Atlantic disturbance approaching Morocco: Storm “Francis” to bring rain, snow and colder weather this weekend
Morocco’s General Directorate of Meteorology is forecasting a noticeable change in weather conditions, due to the arrival of an Atlantic low-pressure system associated with Storm “Francis”, expected to affect the country from Friday through next Monday.
According to El Houcine Youabed, Head of Communication at the General Directorate of Meteorology, this weather system will bring several significant phenomena, including:
-
Rainfall affecting northern and central regions, possibly extending to the northern parts of the southern provinces.
-
Relatively strong winds, especially along the northern and central Atlantic coasts.
-
A marked drop in temperatures, with cold conditions over the Atlas Mountains, the Rif, and the high plateaus, and a potential for snowfall on higher elevations.
The same source noted that final rainfall amounts will depend on the exact track of Storm “Francis”, which will be assessed more accurately over the next 48 hours.
